ROCS
A unique 3 dimensional in-house module for an intuitive reading of the Time.
As plainly as a Ressence watch aims to express Time, so the ROCS name expresses what it is: Ressence, since it is patented and
developed by us, Orbital, because that is how the discs forming the dial move, Convex, since each of the discs are curved, as are the sensuous, organic lines of the entire watch, and System because it is a mechanical module.
The ROCS blends the different information layers - hands on top of a fixed dial - into an animated mono-surfaced display. It uses the same reading patterns to indicate the time as traditional dials with hands. Improved reading ergonomics are at the origin of this innovative expression of Time.
ROCS'convex discs have a 125mm radius with three or four eccentric bi-axial satellites inclined to varying degrees. This gives each watch not just a distinctive style - it gives time a certain sense of tactility.
The sub-dials continually revolve, as does the main disc into which they are set - rather like moons around a planet. This means the dial is ever-changing in Time - whilst also allowing for a more intuitive reading of it.
ROCS 1
Our patented ROCS module is driven by the minute axle of a customized self-winding 2824/2 base calibre. It is a state of the art horological complication composed of 107 parts. ROCS 1 functions are: Seconds, Minutes, Hours and Week Days.
ROCS 2
The patented ROCS 2 or ‘Ressence Orbital Convex System’, is our in-house horological complication and is driven by the minute axle of a customised 2892 base calibre. Inside the TYPE 2 the ROCS 2 includes photovoltaic cells to allow fast charging.
ROCS 3
Our patented ROCS module is driven by the minute axle of a customized self-winding 2824/2 base calibre. This unique 215 parts horological complication is entirely bathing into 3.57ml of oil. ROCS functions are: Runner (360"), Minutes, Hours, Week Days, Date and Oil Temperature.
ROCS 5
Our patented ROCS module is driven by the minute axle of a customized self-winding 2824/2 base calibre. This unique 142 parts horological complication is entirely bathing into 3.75ml of oil. ROCS functions are: Runner (90"), Minutes, Hours and Oil Temperature.
Distinct variations of ROCS have been specially developed for each TYPE of Ressence. It took years of research and development, questioning and collaboration but the results are at the heart of what we are and what we stand for.
